Wet bag and pail liner review

Keep messes contained by using small wetbags when you take your toddler out to eat!

I have tried 4 different wetbags and/or pail liners and wanted to review them for you so that, if you are new to cloth diapering or think you could use a wet bag, you might start to get an idea of what you want to look for in a wet bag or pail liner. I have learned that there are a few characteristics that I look for in a wet bag or pail liner. But first, let me just explain what the heck a wet bag or pail liner is! Wet bags and pail liners are very useful for any parent if you are a cloth diaper user or not. These are bags with a water resistent liner to hold messes in. These bags are handy for keeping any wet clothes or swimsuits in. They can be used in a diaper bag for cloth or disposable diapers after they are soiled. (I’m sure there are times when you change your baby and don’t want to throw a disposable diaper in someone’s kitchen or bathroom trash pail during a party!) We also like to use wet bags in our “going out to eat bag”. We have a small “clean” wet bag and a small “dirty” wet bag. The “clean” one holds two wet wash cloths to clean up the twins after they eat. The “dirty” one holds soiled wash cloths, used toddler utensils, bibs, and placemats. We are set for nearly any circumstance with this set up!

What I look for in a wet bag are 1) They keep the wet in without wicking or leaking. (Wicking is when water is drawn out to dry fabric from a wet fabric.), 2) They keep odors and messes in the bag, and 3) They are easy to wash and care for. To me all other details are bonus add ons but are not necessary.

GroVia Wetbag and Pail liner: GroVia has a small wet bag that is 12×12 inches in size and costs $6.75. The large pail liner is 25×27 inches and costs $15.25. These bags close with a drawstring which is very nice for a pail liner. The elastic drawstring allows you to secure the bag around the top of your garbage can or diaper pail to keep the bag in place! The elastic can be a bit difficult to close completely but I have found it’s easier to just twist the top of the bag for easy access. This bag keeps smell in and I have never had leaking or wicking problems. The ONLY drawback to this pail liner is that it is so large that when I wash it sometimes I find soap suds inside the bag, even after thorough rinsing. This is remedied by a quick rinse by hand before I hang it to dry. FYI I never put wet bags or pail liners in the dryer in order to maintain their integrity. Snuggy Baby wet bag and hanging diaper pail: Snuggy baby comes in 3 sizes. The small bag is 12×11 inches and costs $19. The medium bag is 14×17 inches and costs $29. The large hanging pail laundry bag is 22×28 inches and costs $45. This bag has two separate layers with the inner layer being a water resistant PUL fabric. It has a zipper closure and the inner layer can be pulled inside out for easier washing. I have the medium sized bag and love the zipper closure. It also has a handle that snaps closed so that you can hang it from a closet bar, door handle, or stroller handle. I have had some wicking issues with this bag when wet diapers are in it for more than a few hours. I love the print but would not buy this bag again due to the wicking. DiaperRite wet bag and pail liner: A small wetbag is 12×14 inches and costs $5.95. The large pail liner fits great in a 13 gallon trash can and costs $13.95 making it a great deal for the money. I got the small wet bag for free durring a promotion at diaperjunction.com! This bag has an elastic drawstring closure. This is one of the bags you see above in the picture I took of the wetbags we use when going out to eat with our kids. It is the white one. This is a single layer bag, meaning that the waterproofing is laminated to the outer layer. This bag is only slightly different than the GroVia bag. I have never had any issues with leaking or wicking with this bag. I assume that I would have the same issue with this pail liner that I have with washing the GroVia large bag. Another great bag for the money. Pricing, photo and details from DiaperJunction.com.

Incredibum wetbag and pail liner: The small wetbag is 14.75×13 inches and costs $7.95. The large pail liner is 25.5×20 inches and costs $12.95. This bag has a drawstring closure that you can tighten around your diaper pail to keep in place. It comes in two tone color and is reversible. I have never had any leaking or wicking problems with this bag and it keeps smells in. If I don’t have this bag in a pail, I keep it on the bathroom counter and twist the top to closed for easy access. This bag is unique to the others, in that it has two layers of waterproofing laminated fabric. Because of this, I can pull the inside layer out for washing. I LOVE this quality! This means that nothing ever get “stuck” in the bag where it doesn’t get cleaned well. It also eliminates the soap suds I sometimes find in my other large pail liners. Needless to say, I feel doubly secure agains this bag leaking because of the two layers of waterproofing. I received this bag free of charge for review. I’m not sure why this is, but it seems to me that most of the time, I wind up liking free product better than the products for which I fork over our hard earned money! Anyways, I am not being compensated for this review other than receiving the free pail liner and I am proud to say that it is my wet bag and pail liner of choice!
