When I was getting our vendors all set up for The Great Cloth Diaper Change Ana of Lollipop Baby Diapers contacted me. She was a member of our local Real Diaper Circle and had been to a meeting to learn more about cloth diapers. In the short time between her first meeting and The Great Cloth Diaper Change she built a business. Ana makes wonderful fluffy cloth diapers. They are luxurious, are my new favorite diapers, and have yet to let me down. Ana makes several diapers and accessories but I will review the fitteds only because that is what she gave me!
Ana gave me one of her first versions of a fitted diaper for review. I had only one concern (about bulk) but loved it so much that I had to buy a second diaper so that both my kiddos had one of these fitteds to sleep in! If my kiddos weren’t 3+ and working on being diaper free, I would have bought several more of these fitteds so that changing sheets due to leaky diapers would be a thing of the past. The diaper that I bought for my daughter is Ana’s revised version and with just a few small changes to her cut she has greatly reduced the bulk of the diaper without sacrificing absorbency. Yay!
Ana has several prints as well as materials for you to choose from when making a custom diaper. Her fitted diapers run $30 but you get more for your money than other diapers. Your fitted diaper comes with an outside absorbent adjustable “cover” (in quotes because fitteds do not have a waterprof layer – they are entirely absorbent), a snap in double soaker, a snap protector (if requested upon order), and a long doubler that you can fold in whatever way your baby needs. Many babies won’t even need a cover with this style of fitted. We use our Lollipop Baby Diapers for nighttime.
There have been several times when the outside of the diaper isn’t even wet after 12 hours of overnight wear by my 3 year olds. Most of the time the outside is damp and so I recommend a cover for nighttime use. I have used both a SweatPea cover and wool covers over these fitteds and found them “bulletproof”! These diapers have so much absorbent material that I am sure a fleece cover would be sufficient for nighttime or daytime use.
Here is a picture of the first style (red) under the new revised style (aqua) fitted Ana has created. You can tell that there is much less bulk in the newer style on my daughter in the flower print.
The inside of the diaper is a luxurious velour with bamboo absorbency below. The print outer fabric comes in a couple different fabrics. The fitteds I have are made from a jersey and knit material on the outside, a bamboo stretchy fleece (very absorbent), and the velour. To keep my kids feeling extra dry at night I put a layer of fleece next to their skin. I fold the long doubler in half and place in the middle of the diaper for my daughter and fold it in fourths and place it up front for my son. I love the versatility of this diaper!
